In times of major changes in our main markets, technological disruption and growing awareness of sustainability, the future of forging is facing many challenges. At our 2nd EUROFORGE conFAIR we will bring together the best suppliers, the most innovative scientists and the leaders of the forging industry in order to discuss the threats and opportunities of the current industrial megatrends and their effects on the forging world.
The EUROFORGE conFAIR in Bilbao – which will now be taking place in 2022 – provides the opportunity for all kinds of suppliers to present their latest products and solutions contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the forging companies in an attractive hybrid fair and exhibition.
Based on the great success of our first event in 2018 and in the light of the new international conference and exhibition landscape, we will be offering a combination of a face-to-face and a virtual event providing the “best of both worlds”. By doing this we have managed to significantly increase the options for exhibitors and the number of technological fields being presented.
The conference will cover the latest technological developments by world-leading institutes and innovation leaders from the industry, focussing on solutions to the big future topics. Forums and get-together events will provide a frame for personal networking and exchange – in person as well as virtual.

The EUROFORGE conFAIR 2021 in Bilbao provides the opportunity for all kinds of suppliers to present their latest products and solutions contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the forging companies in an attractive fair and exhibition. Based on the great success of our first event in 2018 we have managed to significantly increase the number of exhibitors and of technological fields being presented. The conference will cover the latest technological developments by world-leading institutes and innovation leaders from the industry, focussing on solutions to the big future topics. Forums and get-together events will provide a frame for networking and exchange. In 2021 we are happy to provide the opportunity of visiting a number of local forging plants in the Basque country around Bilbao, which has a strong forging history, as an extra option to a limited number of participants.

Interview with EUROFORGE Secretary General, Tobias Hain
The 1st EUROFORGE conFAIR 2018 in Berlin was quite successful. How will the 2nd conFAIR differ from the first and what highlights can we expect?
The biggest difference from 2018 is that our 2022 event will be hybrid. We will enrich the successful concept of our first conFAIR adding the advantages of a digital event. This approach of combining “the best of both worlds” will be unique and offer the participants the highest possible flexibility in choosing between in-person and digital ways of personal networking, professional business talk and gaining up-to-date knowledge from the presentations. Again we want to offer an exhibition of the leading suppliers to the forging industry and we are currently planning a high-end presentation program about the future topics in forging.
How important is it to hold this meeting after what the world has experienced lately? And how affected is the forging industry by the corona crisis?
In 2020 the event world came to a sudden stop due to the COVID-19 crisis. All major fairs and conferences were cancelled or postponed; concerning the forging industry the International Forging Congress IFC had to be moved to 2022. The global forging industry has been hit hard by the crisis, too, as markets broke down and are only slowly recovering. After the industry has coped with these turbulences and is back on track, we expect a major need to catch up on business relations, new supplier solutions, networking and latest scientific know-how. This is why I consider this meeting so important for the international forging community.
The conFAIR 2022 is once again all about the future of the forging industry. What does the future hold for us? What are the main opportunities and the hardest challenges to forge the future?
When choosing the headlines for our program we were driven by the future market and social requirements for our industry. The megatrends are carbon reduction, digitization, new materials and the transformation of the automotive industry. In our scientific as well in the industrial presentations we will try and find answers to these challenges as a combination of best practice solutions and new R&D-findings. This will build the base for a successful future of the forging industry.
